I made a Society6 account about 3 years ago (I know because I just had to update the age I typed in my bio from 22 to 25), with no sales to date. But with the awesome success of my Support Main design on Redbubble, I thought it would be a good idea to distribute that design on multiple platforms. So S6, here I am!

Going from Redbubble to S6 is actually a big culture shock. Redbubble is much more artist friendly in terms of the uploading process.
Firstly, they allow you to centre the uploaded image across both axis. This is really important to me, and I think a slightly uncentred image simply looks unprofessional. S6 offers no centring of designs. Secondly, Redbubble allows you to choose a background colour for your products. Very helpful if you want to use the same image everywhere but on different coloured backgrounds, without having to upload a new file every time. S6 has no background colour options, so if you upload something with transparency, it will show white. Thirdly, Redbubble lets you tile the uploaded image either side by side or diagonally. This is immensely helpful for oddly shaped items like leggings where the typical image doesn't fit easily. S6 has no tiling option. Fourthly, the visual guidelines for placing an image on a product are much worse on S6. Redbubble shows bleed and garment edge, and other guides on some specific products. S6 just has one dotted outline which I guess is the bleed one, so it takes a lot of subtle shifting and re-loading the product preview thumbnail (which can take a whole minute to reload) to position an image suitably. I'm not all about complaining about S6 though. They have impressed me so far in one respect: their product range. They have many products available that Redbubble simply don't, including:
So, I'm hoping that my Support Main design will go well on Society 6, and I'll be producing and uploading more designs in the future. Until next time, xx Jess
