My collection of liquid lipsticks, as of the tenth of February 2018, totals twenty two. I’m not ashamed to admit this: The vast majority of this collection was either.
Cheapness of products, however, makes it so tempting to just buy anything and everything, even if you know you won’t use it there’s a whisper of “But it’s sooo cheap! It’ll never be this cheap again! C’mon, just in case!” But I don’t want to live like that. I want to maintain some control. So for now, this is as big as my collection will be. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have moments of “Hey, I could really use a dark purple lipstick right now!” But rather than use that as a reason to spend 6 hours online, making emotional compromises between cheapness and quality, and ending up so tense I could register on the Richter scare, I decide to do something else. What my years of art theory studies have taught me to do. Mixing colours. I bought a metal makeup pallete off eBay a month or so ago. To mix the lipsticks, I just smear the wand on the pallete, and mix with a lip brush. I’ve been able to make colours good enough to stop the buying itch, so that’s good enough for me! Below is a photo gallery of the lipstick mixes I’ve done, and what I made them from. Hopefully this can provide some inspiration for your own mixing experiments. I intend to update this gallery as I experiment more.
