24/1/2019 0 Comments GoodNotes 5 as a Happy Planner
GoodNotes 5 came out recently. There weren’t a lot of shocking changes from the previous version, but a simple steady improvement on what made the original app great. Some of the most useful features in this version include line snapping, better text controls, and an assortment of new templates. Today I’ll be looking at recreating a popular paper planner in GoodNotes.
I’m referring to the weekly spread in the Happy Planner, which judging by the results i see in Pinterest, is a very popular product indeed.
And here is the version I created in GoodNotes 5:

How I Made The Pages
I made these using the Dotted Paper template, in the Essentials section of the Paper tab, in the size Goodnotes Standard (which is a bit wider than A4) in portrait orientation, and white colour (you can also choose a yellow colour).
The grid on that template is 40 dots wide and 52 dots tall, but the grid isn’t perfectly aligned to the paper.
One unexpected thing I’ve discovered is that you can save pages to be templates, BUT they can’t be ones you’ve exported in Goodnotes format, it’s gotta either be an image or a PDF.
How to Add a New Template
If you found this article informative, consider supporting me and this site by looking at some of my GoodNotes supplies for sale on Etsy, like this set of journal covers! Click the image to check them and my other listings out.
Are you a fan of the Happy Planner? Are there other planner spreads you’d like to see in GoodNotes 5? Leave a comment and let us know.
Until next time, Jess xx
